Acyclovir
Indications/Uses
Herpes simplex viral skin infection including initial & recurrent genital herpes & herpes labialis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 5 times daily at approx 4-hr intervals for 5 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir or propylene glycol.
Special Precautions
Not to be applied to mucous membrane eg, in mouth, eyes or vag. Avoid accidental application into eyes. Avoid sexual contact due to risk of infecting partners. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Transient burning or stinging; erythema or mild skin drying & flaking.
Drug Interactions
Increased mean plasma t½ & AUC, decreased urinary excretion & renal clearance w/ probenecid.
